More Than 16 Countries Dispatch Aid Teams and Supplies to Venezuela

A broad international response is under way, with over 16 countries pledging aid to earthquake-struck Venezuela. The United States announced $150 million in assistance plus rescue teams and warships; Brazil is delivering a field hospital; Colombia sent 63 rescuers and 12 tonnes of equipment on Friday; and Spain, Germany, France, Switzerland, India, Turkey, and China have also deployed personnel and supplies.

Red Cross Launches CHF 50 Million Appeal to Assist 300,000 Earthquake Survivors

The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies launched a 50 million Swiss franc emergency appeal to help 300,000 people affected by the Venezuela earthquakes. Death Toll Reaches 920 as Over 1,000 Rescuers Work Against the Clock

Venezuela's official death toll has risen to 920 with 3,360 injured, as UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher told AFP that more than 50,000 people remain unaccounted for under collapsed structures. Some 25 rescue teams from 16 countries — over 1,000 specialists — are now deployed in Caracas and La Guaira as the critical window for finding survivors narrows.
